Purpose

The West Virginia Economic Development Council was created to promote a unified program of economic development in West Virginia. WVEDC promotes activities that retain and expand present business and industry and attract new business and industry to West Virginia.

WVEDC is the only professional organization in the State with the sole function of promoting economic development.

As a membership organization, WVEDC serves its members by:

• Providing training,
• Providing networking opportunities,
• Presenting prominent speakers on current topics of interest to the membership,
• Offering educational scholarships,
• Lobbying for more funding for local economic development authorities,
• Lobbying to retain and expand state programs  that assist members in doing their jobs.
