Background
The
WVEDC has evolved from the West Virginia Industrial Development Association (WVIDA) which
was created in 1961 through the efforts of some sixteen railroads and public utilities.
Today, our professional membership represents both the private and public sectors
from utilities and railroads as well as from banks, local development authorities, private
industry, regional planning and development councils, and local, state and federal
government.
Successful economic development requires a coordinated, cooperative effort of many
individuals and organizations from both the public and private sectors.
The West Virginia Economic Development Council brings those persons responsible
together, and allows for the creation of a unified, overall program of economic
development in West Virginia. |
